One does not merely go to Moogie's and get a gyro!! This place is like a Swiss army knife of deliciousness!!! The hot dog is good, Chicago style or get out of my face. The burgers are on A-OK, and don't get me started on the Schawarma. The drive thru service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I am glad I decided to stop by here on a whim, it has sure payed off. I didn't even know that Oak Brook had a place like this. This is a must stop every time I am in the area, and have a hankering for some quick tasty fast food!!

Everything I have had there had been tasty. I brought my sisters there after I went enough to recommend it. They liked it too. Gyros, fries and Greek salads were all good. They are a bit higher than I am use to and I wouldn't recommend the swarma. Other than that, the staff is friendly and fast.

I had pasted this restaurant on many occasions and finally decided this past Friday to stop in and try it. I surprised at their menu selection because I love Mediterranean food, but cautious due to past experiences so I decided to try the shawarma. I also purchased a gyros sandwich. I would not order the shawarma again. The meat was hard, dry chipped pieces of meat with somewhat of an interesting flavor that's the only way I can describe it The gyros was good, but the pita seemed soggy for both sandwiches however I'm on a low carb. meal plan so I discarded the pita's anyway. The portions of meat seemed small. I purchased an original so I can't imagine what the mini would look like for the gyros. I purchase a gyros sandwich from another establishment and their meat portion for one sandwich was more than combination of both shawarma and gyros from Moogies put together. I would go back again and order the gyros, but I guess I'll have to try the monster size.

This is a fast food Greek restaurant. Pros: The Gyro dinners were absolutely wonderful. Cons - 1) The Jerusalem Salad which was supposed to be a cucumber and tomato salad, was actually all lettuce - very disappointing, and not enough dressing on it either. 2) The dining area is way too small, we were packed in like sardines.

The falafel sandwich was weirdly flavored and mushy. They also decided to cover it in pickled beets and turnips. I guess they were hoping it would cover the taste of the falafel. It almost did.

Horrible. after a 5 hour drive from st. louis we had to endure this: drenched in oil gyro, tasteless fries and a bitter (yes, old oil bitter) falafel. to make the experience even better, the staff was trying to convince my husband that there is nothing wrong with a bitter tasting falafel. they even asked him if he's ever had a gyro or falafel. thanks so much moogies! needless to say the place was empty. and yes, the only reason we tried it is because it was too late to drive to Chicago. and the 4star rating...(assuming by the owners, friends and relatives) thanks yelp

big portion meal for a good price --- the gyros were flavorful, i was burping gyros flavor for days after --- they should sprinkle viagra powder on their fries instead of salt because the fries were limp...

Food is okay. Customer service and respect is HORRIBLE. The staff isn't knowledgable, the so called owner Tommy is rude and very unprofessional. Customer service is just as important as the food you serve. Ordered for delivery at work. Note: if you order from work, sit by your phone if they need to call you back because Tommy says you should. Work comes second to them, you should sit by the phone and await the possibility of their call instead of working otherwise you may not get your complete order!

I LOOOOOOOOVE Moogies. I order take out, delivery, and eat in the restaurant. The only problem is that both my friend and I get a slight case of food poisoning EVERY SINGLE TIME we eat there. The first few times I was in denial. I would eat the absolutely delicious food every single time and then none too pleasantly puke my brains out shortly afterwards - same with my friend. After a double digit number of tries and almost as many trips on the vomit train, I just can't eat there anymore which SUCKS because the food is great and delivery is always early and friendly and I'm absolutely heartbroken.

Gyros, good. Fries, really good. Portions, extremely good. Prices, excellent. I am a regular here for lunch during the work week. They are clean, nice, and have a large selection in their menu. I tried the chicken shwarma, which was excellent and tasted very fresh. I love that the fries are natural cut and have are cooked to perfect crispyness. Gyro's are just as delicious, with a large portion of meat and warm flaky pita, topped with their cool tzatziki, it hits the spot perfectly. This place is quickly becoming more and more popular, so if you are coming over for lunch, plan to arrive early around 11:45 or after 1pm to beat the long lines.

Good! Always crowded which is a good sign. Their fries are sooooo good! Nice place to go eat outside during work. I suggest calling ahead and ordering since it does get crowded and takes awhile to get food. :-)

I'm just not impressed with this place. It is close to my house, so it is disappointing that they don't have better food. Everything is super greasy. Definitely stay away from their chicken wings. They were gross and barely had any sauce on them. The gyros is okay. Just okay. The inside is just like any other hot dog/fast food place. Also, they are closed on Sundays. I would eat there again if my family was, but I would never suggest it. It's not horrible though. I don't have any true complaints (except for those nasty wings).

I typically get one of two items... Jerusalem Salad or the Vegetarian Shawarma. And I get one of the two at least once weekly. For the last month or so, the dressing for the Jerusalem salad has become watery, and does not taste nearly as good. The only two "complaints" I would have... drop the delivery charge and min order, especially for those across the street and drop the price of the iced tea; both are ridiculous. The plus... the staff is always professional and friendly.

You would think there'd be more fast food places where you could get a gyro or hot dog in Oak Brook. But this place fits the bill. The hot dogs are good as well as the gyros. Plus they have a decent middle eastern selection. Can get crowded at lunch time.

I was craving a gyro and wanted to trying this place. I got the meal and was happy to see fresh cut fries that were crispy and tasty. The sandwich itself was on the oily side as the pita was swimming in oil and meat it self. It turn me off but I paid for it so i did eat the meat and it was well season and tasty. I think next time I will just ask for the gyro salad instead to avoid all the oil.

I've ordered Moogies for delivery and it literally took them an hour and fifteen min to bring the food to me when I live down the road from them. The one time I dined in, the food was ready in less then 10 min. The employees are rude. The drivers are always so nice and make sure they apologize about how long they took on the delivery. Moogies fries are so squishy and not salted. They're extremely greasy as well.

Now I can only vouch for the chicken schwarma, but dang was it good. Typically I would not go for a seemingly fast food "we do hotdogs and schwarma" type of restaurant, but this one had peaked my interest. I am glad we went. The schwarma was happening. It was piled high. Pleasantly seasoned. Cooked tender. Cut from the honking chunk of chicken on the rotating spit right before our eyes. The wrap was fresh and tasty. Go ahead, stop at Moogies for a schwarma. Hell, I beat their gyro is pretty damn good too. This is a family owned business, I want to say from Serbia. The workers were extremely friendly. I would venture here again.

I went for the first time and had beef and chicken shawarma, they were delicious. The hummus and tabouleh salad though were bad. This was the first time I visited the restaurant, so I can't comment on any of the other foods, but I plan on returning to try their gyros, and cheesesteaks. The outdoor seating was very nice, the weather was great and the tables were placed far enough from the street that you didn't hear all the traffic.

Enjoyed a chicken shawarma sandwich on pita with a large order of fries at Moogie's today. They aren't stingy with the chicken, which I appreciate. It had a great flavor, and I'd certainly get it again. The tomato slices were pretty blah, but that's to be expected in February. The large order of fries was bigger than expected, and they were tasty. I was really surprised by the decor. The name Moogie's evokes a neighborhood hamburger shack with a white backlit menu board onto which black prices are placed (see Gene and Jude's, a hot dog joint that I love). It's not like that at all - we're talking faux granite tabletops, lots of natural light coming through the plentiful windows and a restrained navy-blue color scheme. It seems a little like a girl named Flo or Dottie perfectly coiffed and wearing Lands End (apologies to all of the Moogies, Flos and Dotties I have offended in the writing of this review). I enjoyed my food a lot, and will definitely stop there again to try their gyros.

I've been here twice through the drive through and so far, I really like this place. You can call ahead and place and order and pick it up through the drive thru. I ordered the Chicken Gyros, they were really good! This place has a lot of options and I will be returning.

I spotted this place after bailing on another restaurant nearby that just didn't want to serve me. I went in thinking I'd try their beef sandwich but was surprised to see shawarma on the menu. I ordered the chicken shawarma with fries and a drink. The shawarma was a little different than others I've had but was still tasty. The only real complaint was that the pita was a little too soft and ended up falling apart after soaking up juices before I could finish it but that's what forks are for. The fries were disappointing. They looked nice but were limp and undercooked. The last issue was that the soda machine was completely out of ice. The beverage was cold but I like a little ice in my drinks to help dilute the syrup and keep the drink cold throughout. This was my first visit so I will be back to give them another chance in case this was a one-time issue.

Went back due to a craving a gyro.....very very bland! I asked for a sample of the chicken gyro w/ the sauce.......bland.....so decided to get a mini gyro. Needless to say this is a MINI gyro, with not such a mini price. The gyro meat was not crispy at all as I am use to in the city and other locations. The meat and pita were very oily. Sorry to say but the meat was also bland as the chicken gyro. Glad I did not order the regular size gyro. Will not order that again, but willing to return again.

First, Moogie's is significantly better than Times Square Cafe, which used to occupy this location on Summit and Butterfield. Good place, but not great. They do offer a char-dog, which I just discovered to my dismay after I ordered the two Chicago-Style hot dog combo (decent deal @ $6), so I will try that next time - they are a block from my building. I hesitate to call this an authentic Chicago dog - Why they don't use celery salt or a poppy seed bun is beyond me. Sport peppers they use are pretty spicy. They need work to be a true top notch hot dog joint. On the other hand, The gyro is amazing (they use a mix of lamb and beef - most use beef only). I can honestly say they boast the best gyros that I have had outside of Madison Street. The mega gyros is a good deal, a generous portion and the meat is not burnt and rubbery like it is often at many places. It's tender and well seasoned and greasy. Bad for your health I'm sure but great for your tongue. I'm not a fry guy but the fries are pretty decent, although they burned them on me last time. I hear the burger is great - but to me good burgers are a dime a dozen. Overall, you can do a lot worse, it's definitely a decent spot and I'm glad it's close.

Ordered lunch for our business at 11:30 and the food arrived at almost 1:00pm with the restaurant being only down the street...the food arrives and it was cold and missing an items.... We called Moogies and they informed us not sending driver back to our company during lunch time and WE can drive to his restaurant where he will give us a refund and we don't have to do business again...Can we say a lack of business sense...NEVER EAT FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!! No loyalty to their longtime customers!!!!!!

Very yummy gyros, huge amount of beef on the gyro platter. Almost too much. Fries are just alright, nothing special. Call ahead service is great, very friendly when picked up and very professional. Clean restaurant. Also they have chicken souvlaki that you might not find on menu but is unbelievably good. Once again huge portion of chicken and huge order of rice and potatoes. Yum

Definitely a great addition to the lunch places in Oakbrook. Tasty gyros, clean modern sitting area, and reasonable price will bring me back there. It looked like a new building on the southwest corner of Butterfield and Midwest road. Once I walked in, I thought this looked like a Panara Bread. Everything was new and clean. You order at the counter and get the food when you number is called. They have mini Gryo or chicken mini Gryo for $2.99 which alone is a decent lunch. I loved the mini gyro which came with nice warm fresh pita, light sauce, and tasty gyro meat. Lentil soup was fine but not outstanding. We asked for the menu to go but they were OUT of it. Sounded like a popular place. The service was quick and nice. We will come back soon.

Being right out of college and working in Oakbrook is great... but I would not survive without the perfect "recovery" food to make up for those early mornings after those late late nights... Moogie's is great because it's close, relatively quick (for prepared to order food), they deliver, and the food is a pleasant change from everything else in the area. ...Ok so maybe they serve burgers, gyros, schwarma, and french fries... but they're all really good and trust me, a little grease in life never did anyone any harm. I would suggest the "Greek Fry" - a tasty portion of french fries with some salty feta piled on top, finished with a sprinkling of oregano and a delicious twist (or two!) of lemon. Sounds a bit strange, but the pairing is super nice, and with fresh french fries, you really can't go wrong. I'm giving this place 3 stars, because while the food always manages to please, I'm a little turned off that an added sauce (I asked for a ketchup dish of yogurt sauce with my falafel) meant an added charge. The service is quick and brusque... which doesn't bother me, but I've noticed that when you start differing from the norm (asking for extra or exchanging items) they tend to get a little annoyed, why? Because you threw off their flow. That being said, food is great and delivered quickly, the place is clean, and you can't get a decent schwarma anywhere else in the burbs. I'll definitely be back.

Min ordered Italian sausage and I like mine done up like a hotdog. The sandwich was at least 10 inches long which is very large for most places. As I bit into the sandwich I realized I had 2 sausages on the bun (makes sense since there would have been a lot of extra bun). The fries are hand cut and are very good. I got a small which was more then enough for myself and I would have shared if I went with someone else. The food was good. The place inself was a little crammed and had a very large menu which makes for an undecisive persons nightmare. Overall I was impressed.

I have to say I was expecting more of an authentic "Chicago style" dog. The buns were not steamed and they do not use celery salt. The dogs didn't have that "pop" you get from a true "old school" dog

This place is awesome. I have ordered from here about over 20 times! I'm addicted to the Chicken Caesar Salad. I swear I have never had a better salad in my life. The Greek fries are great too. If you've never tried them, it's def something to put on the list but watch out. You'll find yourself craving the hell out of them :/ Service is always quick and they've never messed up my order. I'm going to miss this place when I no longer work in the area

I've been to Moogie's several times for the Gyros, as I think they have one of the best gyros in the western burbs. I brought my wife along for the first time tonight, as she's relatively new to Mediterranean food. I had a gyro again, which of course was excellent, my wife had the shawarma, and we split a hummus. Everything was excellent, I have had shawarma several times before but never from here, this shawarma was probably the best I've ever had.: moist, fresh, and the perfect amount of spices. The hummus was excellent as well. We also got a piece of cheesecake to go for later, and it was delicious! I really can't find one thing to complain about, the food is great, the place was clean, and the service was fast and friendly. For a low cost gyro place, this is about as good as it gets!

We had been wanting to try some local Mediterranean food since my parents got back from a trip to Israel. We finally got a chance to try this place and were not disappointed! My dad had the shwarma sandwich and fresh-cut fries, and really enjoyed it. My sister also liked her chicken gyro (with tzatziki sauce) which she saw off of a Foursquare recommend. I had the chicken shwarma, and was certainly not disappointed. I actually had to eat half the chicken before even attempting to eat the sandwich because there was so much! The pita bread is great and obviously fresh baked. It was very filling, and would have been more than fine with that was my meal. I also split a Greek salad with my sister, which was also great. There was a good ratio of lettuce to olives/red onions/green peppers/feta cheese/carrots and they give you the dressing on the side so you can put on as much or as little as you like. The salad also comes with a piece of pita on the side. The menu is varied enough that you can always get something different, and the food is priced reasonably with great value for the amount of food that you get. This will definitely be a repeat for us.

Good enough. Nothing reaches out says "we're great" but nothing says "we suck" either. Right there in the middle of the road with tasty food, clean-friendly atmosphere, and efficient service/prices. To put it in perspective, I won't go out of my way but I'll definitely be bringing back a sack of schwarma and gyro's for lunch after I bet the Derby at the OTB right there.

At first you have to wonder, how in the world can a hotdog joint survive in Oakbrook Terrace on an expensive corner location? I watched this place being built a few years ago and I thought it was going to be a high end Jewery store! It looks like someone had money they didn't know what to do with - so the built the Tagmahal of hotdog joints! It's a beautiful building with ample indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of travertine tile and granite you would see in a lobby of a bank building. So, it's not really just a hotdog joint, it's a eclectic mix of eastern meet western. I had a falafel wrap (of course I went for the spicy sauce), it was huge and perfectly mixed with the veggies you would expect along with a lovely wrap. I added the fries and drink for a couple of bucks more. The fries are what you expect from a famous dog joint in the city, some skins left in the cut and nice and salty! From afar I could see a couple of different meets toasting around the spindle waiting to be cut for Gyro sandwiches. Many different kinds of fresh salads are available too. I really enjoyed my falafel! Now I know why they survive being in the Tag.

Average hot dogs - but loved the fries! Pretty large portions and priced well. Would absolutely try more from Moogie's if we lived in the area! Drive-thru service was quick and very friendly.

If the quality of the hospitality the staff offers here, met the quality of the food they put out, this would be a rockin place!. I wanted to add Shwarma to my Falafal sandwich and was willing to pay whatever extra it would cost. This just started so many problems. Even a manager had to be called over? Are you kidding me? They offer Shwarma for salads for an additional cost, why couldnt I have it on my sandwich? Then when they finally said ok, they would not put it on my sandwich. This is a sandwich that they are assembling to order. All they had to do was put it on the sandwich. They would not even do that for me. They spent more money putting the meat on he side on a paper plate than adding it to my sandwich! Not only did this bother me but they were very rude about it. I would NEVER go back no matter how good the food may be.

I go here weekly for lunch and have always been impressed with their food and service. The place is clean and they are fairly quick to turn around your order. You should try the Gyro's with Feta Cheese! I've never seen that before and it's great.

I feel like Moogie's would be a good place to introduce your American friends to Middle Eastern food. They have a pretty varied menu, so you can get shawarma or a burger. Additionally, you can get your chicken shawarma on a french roll; though not authentic, it's surprisingly delicious! The flavor is a little different than the other shawarma sandwiches I've had--but it's still totally really good. Their fries are also really good--seemingly cut up fresh and fried to order. I've met at least one owner (I think 2 youngish brothers own this and one other location); he and the other staff have been very nice and very accommodating. Once, I forgot to order fries, so I asked to add them on when I picked up my order, and the guy (maybe the other owner?) literally wouldn't let me pay for them. He threw them in for free and charmingly refused to accept the money I offered. How can you not want these guys to succeed? My main complaint--they are closed on Sundays and I ALWAYS want to go on Sundays!

The food is really good. I have had the beef and chicken gyros from this place and I have not been disappointed. When you get the chicken gyro make sure you ask for the cucumber sauce though, I made the mistake of getting the mustard sauce instead and I wasn't too thrilled with it. Other than that, I think they have a good menu at a decent price.

If you want an outstanding sandwich, go to Moogie's and try the chicken Philly. They load it up with plenty of peppers, onions, big chunks of chicken, and the crowning touch is that it is served on perfectly-toasted garlic bread. I have driven by here literally hundreds of times, but went for the fast-food standby's instead - no more! This will be my new spot in Oakbrook - and it very convenient to get to. They actually have a very extensive menu, including a lot of Middle Eastern food - much more than one would expect from a gyros place. The service is friendly and fast, plus they have a counter for selling coffee and a couple of TV's. The dining area is very clean and all of the condiments were well-stocked (not a big deal, but it shows attention to detail...) Maybe I will get around to trying the other delicious-sounding items in their menu, but I'll probably stick with the chicken Philly. It is that good.

Been working in Oakbrook for a while and have been craving chicken shawarma for kinda like Mezza's in downtown Chicago but can't get to it. Found this place online and was a little confused. It used to be the Great American Cafe but due to new ownership it is called Moogie's now. Went here for lunch about 11:30 and it was already pretty crowded so a good sign. probably favors towards most Chicagoans who want a good dog, beef, and gyro. But they do advertise they have Chicken Shawarma. I was pleasently surprised! The Schwarma is goood! You get a choice of Pita or Wrap or even salad but went with the Pita. Awesome! Place is not very big but modern and clean. Free refills on drinks .I also noticed they had Babagnoush as well so I am definitely going to make this place a once a week place to get my Mediterranean fix on. Would like to try the Beef, dog or gyro as well as those were the items most people looked like they were ordering.

Delicious quality food at a good price. Ordered a platter with gyros, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma and falafel complete with rice and salad for $9.50, great platter to split and it was delicious. Clean inside and look forward to coming back!

I love their shwarma and they always let me sub the tahini sauce for tzatziki sauce! Nothing against tahini sauce..I just love tzatziki / gyro sauce more. Everything else I've gotten from there has been great but I love the shwarma so much...especially love how they have a mini shwarma! so cute and very affordable!!!

A pretty solid spot for lunch. My girl and I had a couple of gyros and we were pleasantly surprised. Each were pretty good sized, the meat was delicious, and the tzatziki was fresh. They had a pretty extensive menu as well, more than just gyros.

Moogies has the best gyros west of Astoria New York, where i once lived. You know that episode of Seinfeld where they all went to Astoria to get a GY-RO? that place. the gyros there would simply melt in your hand. they were heavenly. this place is every bit as good. these are insanely good gyros. i'm sure the other stuff is good too. very clean place and great staff. this is a real gem. save time. get the extra large gyros.

I have been to Moogie's several times, and tried several of their dishes. The hot dogs, gyros, and italian beef are a disgrace to Chicago style food, but you don't go to Moogie's for beef and dogs. You go there for the felafel sandwich. The felafel sandwich is 3 massive, flavorful felafel balls tucked inside a thin pita, accented with beets and a to-die-for spicy sauce. Don't waste your time or money with anything else. If you come here, get the felafel.

Let me begin by discussing the employee's lotion, it smelled strongly, a sweet smell but too much. Fortunately the hands were well moisturized and supple. The menu was as diverse as the people I've Mexicutioned, ranging from burgers and dogs to delightful Greek specialties such as a spinach pie. The utensils are so weak they would not pierce the human armpit of my last victim. Other tableware was above par including paper towels, so absorbent I may use them to clean up the blood of my next 4 victims combined, and the plates were real. Many of us ordered the gyro ranging from the platter to the mini, the meat was thin, crispy, and a tad oily. The spinach pie was a daring choice and less adequate then the bathroom facilities. Dog and burger had ample condiment choices, burger flavor fine, and the hotdog was as expected. As I sat there with my belly full of meat I pondered the celebration of my first mexicution. Rating on mexicution scale: Mexi Pardoned

Moogies? Are they serious? At the time of this writing Rebecca has 14 check ins here. I think she used 10 of those during a two week span and blew my phone up to the point that I had to check this place out seeing how I drive by here usually twice a week. I've been here 4x so far and I'm fan and wish I had tried it out earlier. Shawarma - (4/5) Beef & Chicken combo is great. I think I like the chicken more but the creamy sauce makes this sandwich taste great. Wished they used lettuce shreds vs chopped. hate biting into chunks. The pita always break because it's thin and the sauce/juice. Wish it was thicker. Gyro - Only tried the original version and not the chicken. (3/5) monster size is just THAT - took me two days to even eat it. Also on a thin pita Greek Fries - (4/5) Hand cut fries with oregano and feta cheese. May be best to eat it there cause the sweat from the container makes the fries soggy. Cheeseburger - (3/5) 100% all beef. I don't recall hating it, but then again I know I wasn't "luvin it" Fish Sandwich. (3/5) Crispy Fish. chopped romaine lettuce hard pieces made it not that great for me. Overall they are good and I'll come back. Wish they were open to midnight everyday as I've only been here after 9pm during the week, but due to the area I take it most of their business comes from the lunch time rush in the area.

You'd think that with the word "Gyros" in your name, the gyros would be awesome. They weren't. Ordered a gyro plate. Yeah it was served on a plate cuz we ate there, but everyplace else where I've had a gyro plate gives you extra meat and a mound of fries. Definitely felt like I overpaid for what I got. Taste wise-- very uninspiring as well. As I was eating, I kept thinking that I should have gone to Steve's Gyros in Lombard or Gyro Express in Villa Park....

Down to two stars due to POOR SERVICE! I'd give one star but a few times they delivered. (Very few). Originally we loved this place, in spite of the generally slow service. The Shawarma is like eating cardboard. Gyros run hot and cold depending on how busy they are. Love their fries, but that's not something to buils a business on. Tonight was our second (and LAST!) attempt to order for delivery. They tell you 45 min to an hour... well, that was over two hours ago. NEVER ASK FOR DELIVERY - YOU'LL STARVE FIRST! The worst pizza delivery puts these guys to shame. Time to find another Gyros place - these guys won't see us again.

I didn't eat anything from them so my review is it going to count as well as somebody that hate that. I ordered a peanut butter chocolate shake and I would say that it is below average. It tasted kind of good at the beginning but then the frozen chunks of pita butter started to annoy me. I think maybe they should've made a Waze smoother and I would've gave them above average maybe it's the guy who made it's fault

Come for the gyros & shawarma, but stay for the feta fries. Honestly, the gyros/shawarma are just average, and the portion sizes are smaller than at most places (I'm referring to my husband's full size gyro, not my mini shawarma). The only thing that could draw me back here is those delicious feta fries.

Had a crazy craving for a gyro! Decided to give Moogies a try.... Got a 'monster' size gyro (7.99 + tax), at drive thru, for lunch today. First, It was a very good thing I was not worried about time. The employees park alongside, making a quick escape virtually impossible. If you are in a hurry, skip the drive thru! It definately is a lot of food-no argument on that point. However, this is a matter of quantity vs quality. The meat has that salty, over processed, 'filler' feel and taste to it. The pita too, has an odd texture and hints, ever so slightly, of sweetness. The tzaziki, what little they give you, is flavorful but way too thin...runny even. Now grant it, I have yet been able to find a gyro that comes anywhere close to the ones you used to get in the city back in the 70's (yeah..I know)...but even something remotely close would be fabulous! Not close, mind you, but closer is: Skippy's Gyros (St. Charles & South Elgin). They are a big cut above Moogies. As far as the gyros...Skippy's offers a king size (8.99 +tax), and it wins for both quantity and quality.

I'm an out of towner. Enjoyed the fresh cut fries. I personally loved their italian beef. Hell of a lot better than any experience i've had at Portillo's. I'll be back!!! I recommend it!

The last 3 times I ordered from here, the gyros were fit for a toddler to eat. I just called regarding this because I spent 32 dollars today on 4 gyros and got 4 gyros with meat meant only for 2. They told me they weigh the meat so sometimes it looks like more but the gyros were half the size. The "weight" varies from 6.5 ounces to 8 ounces. That's a significant weight difference. So am I supposed to call and say I want 8 ounces of meat on my gyros so that they can call me an asshole behind my back and proceed to spit on my food? No thanks, I'll order from elsewhere. The "manager" was of no help to me. Good luck guys, I can see you need it.

***Update: And a giant snarky reply from the manager bumps them down to 1 star. I took 2 drinks? Really? Did I? Why don't you ask your man behind the register who watched me throw everything including my cup in the garbage? And even if I did take one, which I didn't, as you stated, it is a FREE refill. It's not some amazing offer. Your gyros suck, your attitude sucks, and you just proved how unprofessional you are. I'm sorry that my personal and true experiences are what you consider exaggerations, simply because it is not what you want to hear. A true professional would work to improve customer experience, not belittle an honest review. Yes people are willing to pay more at Portillo's, because the quality is there. You, do not have that same quality. Perhaps you should spend more time addressing business and food quality issues and less time arguing on yelp. *** Every time I come here, I promise myself that it's the last time. Then, a few months go by, and I start craving a gyro or a beef, and I decide, why not? One more time. I drive right by it when I travel for work, and it's so convenient. Today is the last time. For real this time. I just spent almost $10 on a gyro that was pretty tiny, and a small fountain drink. The gyro was okay, but definitely doesn't hold a candle to Chicago gyros, and would look downright sad compared to Greektown. It's not that it's inedible, just way over priced for the portion and quality. To top it off, I actually wanted a gyro plate. Some extra veggies, maybe some rice. Well, apparently their gyro plates are just a gyro with fries, and you cannot substitute fries for any other side at all. So too bad if you are watching your health or your waistline and want something other than grease soaked fries. Not happening here. I would have even paid an up charge, since we all know how expensive rice is to make. If you order it on it's own as a side, apparently it's like $3. For rice. The cheapest ingredient you can buy. Are you kidding me? I would have ponied up the $10 for the souvlaki plate, but I made that mistake last time and the chicken tasted like lighter fluid. I literally tasted lighter fluid in the back of my throat the rest of the day. That cannot be healthy. Previous to that I had a beef, which tasted really good for the first few bites, but was also small and halfway through got a strange oily taste. The aftertaste ended up being gross, but I was starving, so I finished it. So overall, it's overpriced food that is mediocre at best. Go to ubuild, go to Pete's, go to IDOF, heck even cross the street and go to the Italian deli. Just do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money here.

Very disappointed in Moogies. In the last 6 months they have cut way back on the amount of Gyros they give you with a sandwich, and especially a Gyros plate. On the gyros plate they spread the fries over the gyros so they think you won't notice. They are now off the list. Also way too expensive. 2 Gryos plates, medium drinks and an Onion ring was just under $30.00. ridiculous. Don't waste your time. Plenty of other places who don't try to rip you off.

We used to go to Moogie's a lot more, but our experiences there have been going steadily downhill. The falafel is pretty good, but the last time we went here all that came on the sandwich was falafel and lettuce: no tomatoes, turnips, parsley, or sauce as it said on the menu. The fries were a little sad (squishy and wet), and the onion rings were okay. What really made us uncomfortable was the service at the take-out counter. Our order took forever to prepare despite the restaurant being all but empty, and all the employees looked and acted like they didn't want to be there. They shouted at one another within earshot of the customers, slammed things around, and one of them even kept saying very loudly, "I am so pissed right now." By the time our order was ready we were so uncomfortable that we didn't even stay to check the bags to make sure our order was right before rushing out - and I wish we had.

Is there anything lower than zero stars? Over priced, mediocre food with horrible service. Don't bother talking to the owner for any type of resolution...he's rude and obnoxious. Do NOT go to this restaurant even if a zombie apocalypse is happening...you've been warned

I wanted to like this place.. It's down the street from my job and always looks busy. I've been here twice now and have been disappointed each time; both drive through and dine in. Service is really slow. They need to hire more workers for a lunch rush during weekdays since there's plenty businesses nearby. Great location for a food joint, just need to speed things up. Food is mediocre, at best. Gyro meat tastes really dry and plain, chicken gyro got me sick that day, and the falafel is ehhh... I've had better. Both meats were too salty, oily, yet some pieces were hard... Oh and the veggies aren't awful, but the fries were too greasy / soggy. I don't like that Moogie's will not let you substitute anything; example - a small salad for squishy fries - since their Gyro Plate doesn't come with salad. I had a side salad anyway, but the dressing was too watery. This place does have big proportions, but they're pricey. Overpriced.... And I'd rather pay for quality over quantity. A handful of co-workers have gone here and haven't been impressed either. I will not be returning. Roosevelt Road has tons of much better tasting Mediterranean cuisine..

Every time I go here, I get disappointed. The fries are never fresh and the food is WAY overpriced. I have also dined in as well and it feels like you walked instantly into a grease pit and the tables are NEVER clean. They are lucky to be located at the intersection of Butterfield and Midwest/Summit rd. Save yourself the regret later and don't get lunch here. Go to Pete's Fresh Market and get something from the hot bar. And on your way out, get yourself an gelato to treat yourself for not making a bad decision to here there!

My 1st time here and everything sounded good so I couldn't make up my mind till the very informative cashier suggested to get a mini gyro and a mini chicken shwarma~(spelling) so I could sample both. I also ordered the Greek fries that were fresh cut fries with feta cheese & oregano sprinkled on top along with fresh lemon. Everything was AMAZING! Even my picky 6 year old son loved his mini gyro & the Greek fries. Very clean inside the restaurant and the bathrooms! Very friendly service! Prices are very reasonable also! Honestly I've been in the restaurant business my whole life so I have very high standards when I eat out and I can tell you that everything was perfect! I will definitely be going back!

Got the CHICKEN PHILLY delivered along with the SOUP DU JOUR aka CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP. After burning most of my taste buds on the soup, I dug into the Chicken Philly. My Philly Cheese Chick was squeezed robustly into a garlic bread hoagie. I forgot it was garlic bread until my last bite which contained nothing but bread so it's not much of garlic bread. The Philly Chick is complimented with green peppers, onions, and mushrooms which all together leads to a kill with the ladies later on. Do not eat this in the company of beautiful women.

Chicken shawarma sandwich amazing!!, juicy as $&/#!!, my girl had the chicken gyro, oh my god it's spinning on a stick!!!! And not fried on a grill,Yes!!, so juicy and tender full of flavor. Fries are fresh cut, and seasoned well. Nothing negative here. And on top of all the praise I'm giving, the manager gave me a slice of an oreo cake and carrot cake for a first time customer. 5 stars!!! I am a very hard person to please btw. Don't knock it, till you try it. If you give this place a bad review, you have know taste, that's right I said that! !

I had maybe a teaspoon of sauce on my gyro. The cleanest gyro I have ever eaten. Which means, it didn't taste like a gyro. I'm not looking for tzatziki soup but I expect some drippings on my wrapper at the the end of my gyro meal.

Off of Butterfield Road in Oak Brook sits a small Chicago style fast food eatery called Moogie's Gyros. I didn't even realize it was there until one Friday evening driving by it and having to make a quick detour to stop in and try out the food. Moogie's has a lot of the traditional things one might expect from such a restaurant such as Hot Dogs, Italian Beefs, Gyros and Hamburgers. The inside is clean and fairly well decorated with lots of movie posters and other unusual nick-nacks adorning the walls. After looking over the menu options I decided to try for a hot dog with everything. The hot dog I received came on a regular non-poppy seed bun. The bun wasn't particularly soft either which was a bit of a downer, On the plus side the sausage used was well heated, and the classic Chicago-style neon green relish was used though was applied a bit excessively. There was a fairly thick pickle slice and two somewhat wet and sloppy tomato slices on top. There were three sport peppers on the dog, no sign of celery salt and a heavy application of mustard, and onion. Overall, I would say this is an average Chicago style hot dog. The condiments were applied excessively, there was a bit too big of pickle and tomato slices on it and that really offset the flavor. If you happen to be in the area it's certainly not a bad place to stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here either. Overall I'd say Moogie's is a three star establishment and will rate them accordingly.

I went in knowing that I wasn't going to eat much, but let me tell you... The fries were delicious! They were the perfect thickness and seasoned with garlic, Parmesan and good old fashioned love. I ordered a "small", which was pretty large if you ask me, and left feeling satisfied. Didn't even need ketchup!

The first time my husband and I ate here, we had a great experience. It was really quite good. We returned this past week for our second visit and it wasn't the same. The consistency of the food is off. Not everything tasted the same. That night and the next day, we felt disgusting and sick. We both ended up getting a small case of food poisoning. We won't return. The service staff seems to care less and they're so slow.

Gyro's are very rich and flavorful, my mouth is just watering just thinking about them as I write this review. Parking can be hectic sometimes especially lunch peak hours, also feel like their salads could use some work. Otherwise though, quite a nifty place that might be a bit tricky to find. Portions are good with value also pretty good. Haven't explored too many options on their menu yet like hummus or shwarma but looking forward to trying the next time I'm there.

Not really a good place mainly the awful greasy French fries. The vegetables didn't seem fresh and this place is among the worse of the Dupage gyro places I have seen. I wouldn't waste my time unless you really want gyros and are in a hurry. Avoid the fries though

Tonight me and my family arrived in Chicago for the first time for a quick weekend trip and all 6 of us were extremely impressed to say the very least. We ordered a wide variation of food off of the menu and everything tasted delicious and you could tell it was fresh (i work in the restaurant business so i would know). Not only was the food outstanding the service went above and beyond especially the manager Joe. He constantly made my large family feel comfortable, welcoming and taken care of and that made all the difference. My mother herself who is the biggest critic i know kept saying what a good guy (Joe) was and how satisfied she was. My dad even shook his hand at the end of the night. And to top it off the bathrooms were impeccably clean. Glad this was the first place we stopped to eat, it has set the bar very high for the rest of our weekend. Will definitely recommend to all our family and friends in Detroit to visit if they are in the area!!

Stopped in here based on reviews and was disappointed. Ordered the combo platter, which the cashier was unsure off and had to double check. I mean it was listed on the "specials" board, so not sure what threw her off. The best item on the platter: rice!. The gyros were ok, but the chicken and beef swarma was basically cut up random pieces of chicken and beef. No flavor, overcooked and tough to chew. The plate also came with 2 pieces of falafel. So I am not sure is this is a Greek place or Middle Eastern? Anyway, the falafel was hard on the outside and puree on the inside. I have had falafel many times and have never had one that was basically paste. Maybe I caught them on an off night or they do a lot of lunch business and that's when food is fresh and hot off the grill.

Great little place. Definitely fast food, but the cost is very affordable. I had the gyro plate as a salad. Loads of meat! They got my order customization right and had it ready for pick up. I'll be coming back.

I've been here a few times since it's down the street from my apartment. Friendly staff, efficient drive-thru, clean. The first couple of times, the gyro was great. The next couple of times, too oily for my liking. Not sure what happened. It was enough to put me off the place for a while, but I would be willing to give it another try since it was great the first couple of times. I've tried a couple of sides as well, but they were nothing to write home about.
